Danish & Cinnamon Roll: two ways to enjoy laminated dough

Danish and Cinnamon Roll — two distinct pastries from our bakery, each with its own character and filling.

Alongside our croissants, two other pastries hold a clear identity on the counter — the Danish and the Cinnamon Roll. Both start from a similar laminated, buttery dough, but the path each one takes to its final shape is different, and that difference shows from the very first bite.

The Danish is an open-shaped pastry, usually with a filling in the center surrounded by strips or folded edges of dough. The dough is laminated, much like croissant dough, but shaped differently — instead of being rolled up, part of the filling is left visible on top. The result is golden and slightly crisper at the edges, with a soft, fragrant center.

The Cinnamon Roll, on the other hand, starts from a rolled-out buttery dough that gets brushed with cinnamon and then coiled into a spiral — hence the shape. During baking, the cinnamon caramelizes between the layers, creating the dark, fragrant rings you see when the pastry is sliced. The smell of cinnamon filling the shop while these bake is a familiar part of our mornings.

Even though both pastries come from a similar laminated, buttery-dough family, their character is different. The Danish is milder and more flexible in its filling, while the Cinnamon Roll carries a steady, unmistakable cinnamon flavor through every layer. The choice between the two often comes down to mood — the Danish for something softer, the Cinnamon Roll for something more intense and spiced.

Both pastries are made in our bakery every morning, with the same craft and attention to detail we apply across our range — from laminating the dough to pulling it from the oven at exactly the right moment for color and texture. Our team is trained to work with precision at every step, since laminated dough leaves no room for rushing.

Both the Danish and the Cinnamon Roll pair well with coffee — an espresso for those who like a contrast with the sweetness, or a Caffè Latte for a milder, creamier match. You’ll find them at our Aerodrom and Kapistec Petit shops.

Next time you’re at the counter, try both — the difference between them is small in origin, but big in experience.
